Kyisha Williams

Kyisha is a Tkaronto-born, Black non-binary femme dreamer, writer, actor, director and health equity consultant. Kyisha fuses public health and digital media by creating socially relevant content that discusses health and promotes healthy sexuality and consent culture. Kyisha completed a Masters in Public Health in 2016. Kyisha graduated from the film production program at Toronto Film School in 2021. Kyisha’s film titles include Queen of Hearts (short) 2018, The Zoo (short) 2021, and ZARMINA (short) 2024. Kyisha works to highlight the experiences of people who experience marginalization at many intersections, including Black, queer, and criminalized communities. They are deeply committed to Black and Indigenous joy, health and freedom.

Acting

Kyisha has acted in TV, feature films, short films, commercials/PSAs, including the award-winning Scarborough (2021), Verona (2023), American Gods (STARZ) and The Accused (Fox/Hulu).

Art Department

In addition to writing and directing, Kyisha's love of the art department and the tools the help actors sell it, led them to Props. Kyisha has worked on television shows, documentary series and commercials/PSAs as Lead Props (Props Master); Including Revenge of the Black Best Friend (CBC Gem), Rita Marley Lived on Degrassi Street (National Film Board of Canada) and Heritage Minutes (Historica Canada).  Kyisha is the Production designer of Aftercare, a short film premiering at TIFF 2023.
